Mayor Jesse Farias
One of twelve children, raised in Wapato. Attended Wapato Schools, my three children attended Wapato Schools, currently my grandchildren are attending the Wapato School system. Currently serving as the Mayor of Wapato, in a strong Mayor form of Government.
Work Experience: Retired from State Government Nov 1999. Appointed by two Democratic Governors to Executive positions within their administration. Director of Veterans Affairs for Booth Gardner, appointed by Governor Locke to the Liquor Control Board. Over twenty five years in Employment Security Department including Regional Director for Eastern Washington
Have served on various boards and commissions, ie:
Governors Representative to the Adult Literacy Council, Upper Valley for a Better Tomorrow, Governor Committee on substance abuse, governors committee on Homeless, Health care reform, Wapato Parks and Recreation, Mentor for the Gates foundation schools of the future, Yakima County Economic Development Agency, Yakima River Basin Salmon Recovery Board, People for People, Yakima Community Foundation, Rattlesnake Hills Tourist Trail.
Retired from US Army 1969 for Disability. Vietnam Veteran
