The City of Wapato, WA is currently accepting applications for Police Officer – Lateral. One current opening. 2016 salary scale $3,598 to $4,620 per month, based on current union contract. Closing date until filled.
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Applicants must: be citizens of the Unites States; be a high school graduate or equivalent; be not less than twenty one (21) years of age; possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license; possess minimum of eighteen (18) months full time job experience after certification by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (or CJTC recognized certification) as a sworn, paid Municipal, County, State or Federal Police Officer within the last thirty six (36) months; possess experience performing patrol, traffic or investigation; must be current Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy graduate or eligible to attend the Washington State's Basic Law Enforcement Training Equivalency Academy. Military police experience does not qualify.
Other requirements include an extensive background investigation to include a polygraph and psychological examination.
Pay: Start at Step 1 to 4 of existing pay scale. Level determined by years of service and background information with final determination made by mayor.
An initial balance of leave, in form of vacation and sick not to exceed eighty hours will be granted at Mayor’s discretion.
The Wapato Police Department is now accepting applications to create a hiring list for the position of Entry Level Corrections Officer. Laterals and women are encouraged to apply. Physical Agility Test and Oral Board date(s) will be determined for qualified candidates. The 2016 pay scale range is $15.38 to $18.95 per hour DOE. The public is invited and encouraged to all open public meetings of the City Council Regular and Work Session meetings. Both meetings are held at City Hall Council Chambers, 205 E Third Street, Wapato, WA. City Council meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm.Council Work Sessions are informal and informational. They are just before City Council meetings starting as early as 6:00 pm.
